By French Davis, The Yellow Scene What better way to usher in Halloween than with this delightfully playful spoof on Agatha Christie’s 10 Little Indians? Director Jim Kimbrough & the Lafayette Community Players are bringing the timelessly classic musical Something’s Afoot to the Mary Miller Theater. Running October 15-30, this satire highlights the story of Mrs. Tweed and nine other people, all stranded in an English country house during a horrific thunderstorm as one by one, they’re each killed. This is the LCP’s first musical in six years, and they made sure to pick a good one. After premiering on Broadway way back in 1976, it was nominated for an Olivier award (the British version of the Tony) the following year, Something’s Afoot has since been performed all over the world. For those of you who can make opening night, you’ll have the chance to meet one of the playwrights. Robert Gerlach, who isn’t local himself, but whose family lives in Lafayette, will attend the October 15th performance. Always a favorite at any age level, Something’s Afoot will certainly be one of the highlights of the LCP season. Tickets range from $5 to $12. The theater is located in Lafayette, at 300 E. Simpson St. Call 303.604.3841. |
